“Boys and girls in America have such a sad time together; sophistication demands that they submit to sex immediately without proper preliminary talk. Not courting talk- real straight talk about souls, for life is holy and every moment is precious.” John Kerouac

Hot Lips holding back the passion she has for a guy she barely knows. She wants him to take control of the situation but he seems proccupied withe waves of the ocean. So she takes charge. Summer fling is all.

Page 3

Amy and Doug were set up on a blind date. It was not "love at first sight." He felt something that she did not. After six monthes of dating he was ready to call it quits but she finally realized she was in love.

Page 4

Joe loved the drama. He loved the power he seemed to have over Kayla and her life. Emotions she seemed to wear on her sleeve were often used to wipe his brow.

Page 5
Bridget & Max are like an old married couple after only seven monthes of dating. He falls asleep while she vegges in front of a Lifetime movie.

Page 6
When he was a boy, Ben liked teasing Isabel because her face would turn red from anger or embarressment when he would toss cookie crumbs into her out of control, curly hair. He still gets a kick out of her flushed cheeks and her mass of curls. She still blushes when he throws a sweet nothing her way.

Page 7

Mai & Yurg have a chemistry between them. It's more than just the cocaine. When they touch he is spellbound and she is on fire. They've been asked to leave grocery stores and restaurants because of their PDA.

Page 8
LOVE was in the AIR. MUSIC SEEMED TO FILL THEIR HEARTS. ♥ KISSES NEVER seemed so Sweet. All would be Perfect if she had the nerve to leave her babies daddy and if he had a job,... Perfect otherwise.

Page 9
Charlie & Apryl met in the office. She was instantly struck by his smile - Slightly crooked teeth set in quotation marks of dimples. He was mesmerized with her natural beauty. They married after two months of dating.

Page 10
The day that Drew decided he would tell Cassie that he loved her , she was contemplating a seven hundred mile move back to Virginia.

Page 11
Holidays were always special to Gina & Dale. They met at a Christmas party in Chelsea.

Page 12
Veronica & Lenny met while she was stoned and he was trying to get over a recent seperation.

Page 13
Umber first noticed Trevor on the L Train. He was reading the Wall Street Journal and pretending he didn't notice Umber noticing him.

Page 14
Sonya always imagined her lovers as charaters from romance stories, fairytales,... Vann was definitely the Beast. He was an animal anyway. Vann liked getting straight to business. Love or like or strange - given the opportunity, he was on it. She only slept with wealthy guys, just in case the ending wasn't a happy ever after. Expensive taste and wealthy men usually resulted in expensive gifts to remember the romance once it was over.

Page 15
Lairah was never amused by Brett's sophomoric behavior when he exited the bathroom from the shower. The toss of the towel and the naked dance was almost repulsive to her. In his defense, he was only a junior when their affair began. Her husband was his English professor.

Page 16

When Nick kissed Autumn, she was like a deer caught in headlights.

Page 17
Carrie wants to be a married woman. Chris isn't ready for a long term commitment. She has stopped taking her birth control pills and he doesn't know that. Soon wedding bells will ring.

Page 18
Brian & Kelly met in college. He was a senior and she was a freshman. She was as close to perfect as he had ever dated. They had a long distance relationship after he graduated. Real life has a way of crushing dreams. She met someone else. He focused on his career. Neither were successful.

Page 19
In fantasies she ascends in a whirlwind - still hot from her recent proximity to the Sun; still moist from her pouring with the rain. And she falls on him and he breathes her in.

Page 20
Sometimes, in soft, morning sunlight, Lisa and Michael would cuddle and make love without even having sex. Sometimes they would just go at it like animals. After the twins were born, it was never quite the same.

Page 21
Ryan & Andi are in love. They can't explain it. LOVE can be that way.

Page 22
Cameron & Nikki met while she was living on the streets, as a 16 year old runaway. He was in the states as an exchange student, from Italy. Now they are married and run a gym in L.A. Now, she'd like to travel abroad & he'd just like to run away.

Page 23
Jason was a night stocker @ Wal-Mart. Tina was a Wal-Mart, after 10, shopper. She would show up looking like she just rolled out of bed and Jason found that very arousing. He would go out of his way to help her shop. She left her baby's daddy for him.

Page 24
Sometimes when you think your dreams are coming true, the one you're dreaming of is dreaming of someone else. That part of love & relationships really-sucks.

Page 25
Eva & Ladd are going to be parents sooner than they think.

Page 26
Jarrod & Kim met @ a psychobilly show and didn't meet again for another six monthes or so. He was having a burger @ the Penguin when she stumbled in out of the rain. She didn't like weather extremes. She was there hoping to see Mark but he happened to be off that day. So she struck up a conversation. They are happy. She'd be happier if he drank less and he'd be happier if Mark's name weren't forever inked just above her pelvic bone. Other than that,... they really are happy.

Page 27
Rosalia met Rob at Whiskey A Go Go. He was too cool to dance. She was too happy not to. There she was dancing with herself and he was her personal audience. He bought her a drink. They hooked up several times after that.

Page 28
So much in their lives really didn't matter. Unfortunately too much of their time was focused on the little things that work to break bonds that are meant to last forever. She left him the week before he died.

Page 29
Lavonne realized in that moment that she was a cougar. She'd never liked that term, "cougar" but she really liked her son's best friend.

Page 30
Jeff was a negative soul, drawn to Christy's positive energy. Opposites attract but, and quite often, we begin to hate the qualities we once loved. After ten years of marriage, Christy had all she could take and she left Jeff,... and lived happily, ever after.

Page 31
Debra gave Quinn butterfly kisses on his cheek when she thought he needed to refocus.

Page 32
Katie & Barry are childhood friends. They grew up three houses away from each other. He would let her play with his favorite Hot Wheels. Sometimes she would bake cookies in her Easy Bake Oven just for him. They drifted apart in high school. Senior year in college, they ran into each other at Target during Christmas break. Sparks flew!

Page 33
They met on the set of Jerry Springer. Her husband revealed he'd been cheating on her with her younger sister. He was in the audience.

Page 34
Ramy was first attracted to Angel's wild, whirlwind of firey, red hair. She went on and on about his sexy accent. If only she really loved him, she wouldn't have cheated.

Page 35
She was not happy in the marriage. She wanted to have a baby but more than that she wanted him to be the rock star she thought he would be by now. He was miserable in the relationship but the sex was good. He didn't want to raise a kid with an alcoholic. She drank to medicate her sadness.

Page 36
Jeanne & Dodd enjoy their modern "hippy" lifestyle.  He is learning to blow glass and she makes and sells goat milk soap.  He has never told her about the son & wife he abandoned before moving to North Carolina.  She has never told him about the two years she spent in prison.  The past is the past,... they are simply living in the present.

Page 37

Even though Kyle was the only guy she'd ever slept with, Kyle called Rhea a whore when they broke up.

Page 38

Stella & Leon like to get high and chill in the evenings.  She doesn't know it but she's six weeks pregant.

Page 39

Jorge & Melonie were an unlikely couple.  He was a dancer supporting his dream as a waiter.   She was a banker working her way to the financial goal she's had since a young girl living in poverty.  No time for relationships but here they are.

"Grim 40" by Brian K. Raynor

Painted "Grim 40" this month. Probably my last painting for 2010. I think I've painted 3 this year. Fewer paintings,... doesn't that make them more collectable? Marty Lockridge, a funeral director, is the owner of "Grim 40".

"How Great Thou Art" by Brian K Raynor

"How Great Thou Art" painted 10/30/10 - Acrylic on metal.

Today is El Día de los Muertos (The Day of The Dead). This is a Mexican ritual celebrating the lives of dead ancestors. It's origins can be traced back thousands of years to the MesoAmerican people. A Catholic spin on Pagan rituals make holidays all the better.

The souls of children are believed to return on November 1 and adult spirits arrive on November 2.

"How Great Thou Art" is a tribute to The King of Rock & Roll, ELVIS ARON PRESLEY, and his love of Gospel Music. At one of Elvis' concerts a lady yelled,
"Elvis You are the KING!"
Elvis screamed back "No I'm Not - There's Only One King!"

"How Great Thou Art" will be exhibited tonight at Pura Vida as part of a makeshift cemetery in celebration of The Day of The Dead.

"Rooster Red" by Brian K Raynor

There has been a runaway chicken hanging around my workplace this week. It looked more hennish than roosterish.

I painted "Rooster Red" for some multigenerational, multicultural, multimedial (?) event a few years ago. Reminds me of Mexican Folk Art.

"The Attendant" by Brian K. Raynor

I painted "The Attendant" around 1988-91. This is the only photo image that I have been able to find. It was part of a trilogy of paintings: "The Attendant", "The Cadaver" and "The Mourner". It was exhibited at a show of local artist in Charlotte, NC (where it was admired by many Goth girls). It used to hang in On Common Grounds Coffee House in Concord, NC. It is the first painting that I ever sold. I blew the money from that sale on my first trip to Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender.

"Pear Trio" by Brian K. Raynor

The ancient Chinese believed that the pear was a symbol of immortality because pear trees live for a long time. In Chinese the word "li" means both "pear" and "separation," and for this reason, they say that to avoid separation, friends and lovers should not divide pears between themselves.

I painted "PEAR TRIO" a few years ago. It is a small painting. Acrylic on canvas board.

Painted the Winter of 2007 for Robin W Brown of Kannapolis NC.

I've never been a big fan of cats. Allergy to them has worsened since childhood. Growing up we had a family cat called Speckles. She was a calico. We found her as a kitten being attacked by a German Shepherd. She won that fight. She was very gentle and friendly otherwise. One of her last remaining descendants as I recall was a yellow cat we called Sonny. He looked much like the cat in the painting.

"I Dreamed There Was This Mountain" by Brian K Raynor

I dream a lot when I sleep (I daydream a lot when I'm awake). Dreams are usually very vivid. Here lately, perhaps due to the change in the weather or my eating habits, I am dreaming more and remembering more. I wake up at least five times a night because something is so frightening or too funny or very cold or way too intense or whatever that I can't help but wake up.

I painted "I Dreamed There Was This Mountain" a couple years ago after I dreamed there was this mountain that rose up from this water. Every surface seemed to have an almost silvery iridescent sheen. Surreal and calm and strangely beautiful. Nothing happened; I just happened upon it.

"Look At Me" by Brian K. Raynor

"Look At Me" by Brian K. Raynor (SOLD)

Look at me. I am a reminder that although we are covered by proud flesh, we are all the same inside - Spirits contained in failing vessels. Look at me! We are wonerfully made yet hidden from the eyes of each other. Flesh allows us to only see flesh. One day, we will all be uncovered (without flesh obscurring our view) and we will see and be seen for who we really are - Eternal spirits consuming and being consumed by the Good or Evil here below. Look at me. I am a reminder that this life and this world are only temporary. One day every vessel will be broken and every spirit unbound into the presence of the CREATOR. Live for that day!

" Computer Says 'No' " by Brian K. Raynor

Painted "Computer Says 'No" a few years back while watching "Little Britain" on DVD. My computer seems to say "no" anytime I need something quick OR at the end of the month when I need to meet a deadline.

"Hahn im Garten" by Brian K Raynor

"Hahn im Garten" by Brian K. Raynor

I painted "Hahn im Garten" several years ago. It is small. It hung in On Common Grounds (Concord, NC) for a while. Sold it to the same guy who bought "A Rooster" or to the guy who bought "Sage Rooster". I can't remember the details,... except that it was at one of the Rockabilly BBQ's (Charlotte, NC). I was trying to teach myself to speak German around that time. I just found the image today on another website and thought I'd POST IT for posterities sake.

Here is a cocky little rooster. Painted a few years ago. Sold 2 years ago at the Rockabilly BBQ. I think some guy named Darryll bought it.

Painted this tiki image a couple years ago. Can't remember if it sold or not. ?
